back to school memories

Hey Mama, How Are You Holding Up This Back-to-School Season?

The backpacks are packed. The lunchboxes are labeled. You’ve double-checked the supply list (twice). And just like that, it’s here. The first day of school.

You watch them walk through those big school doors—maybe for the very first time, maybe for the fifth—but your heart does the same thing it always does. It swells with pride… and aches just a little too.

That’s the thing about motherhood. Every step forward they take feels like a tiny tug at your heartstrings. Back-to-school is a joyful milestone for them. But mama, it’s also a deeply emotional moment for us.

It Feels Like Just Yesterday

You can still feel the weight of their tiny body curled against your chest. The early morning feedings in the dim glow of a nightlight. The way their little fingers would grip your hair while nursing.

It’s a chapter that feels so close, and yet, here they are—lunchbox in hand, shoes tied (probably on the wrong feet), and a heart full of excitement to explore the world without clinging to your leg.

Wasn’t it just yesterday that you were rocking them back to sleep?

Motherhood has a way of making time feel like a blur. It’s a collection of ordinary days that suddenly become precious memories.

The Emotional Tug-of-War of Letting Go

No one truly prepares you for how much of motherhood is about letting go. First, it’s the swaddle. Then, it’s the pacifier. Then, it’s their hand as they bravely step into their classroom.

With each little “first” they experience, there’s a quiet “last” for you. And while we celebrate their independence, it’s perfectly normal to feel a little heartache.

This emotional tug-of-war is the bittersweet joy of back-to-school. You’re proud beyond words. You’re heartbroken in the best way. It’s a strange and beautiful ache that only a mama understands.

The Invisible Load You Carried to This Moment

Behind every child walking into school is a mother who carried an invisible load to get them there.

You’ve been their first teacher, their safe space, their biggest cheerleader. You’ve navigated sleepless nights, sick days, and emotional meltdowns. You’ve taught them how to share, how to be kind, and how to believe in themselves.

This milestone isn’t just theirs, Mama—it’s yours too.

But so often, we downplay our role. We celebrate them and forget to pause and acknowledge our own journey. You’re allowed to feel emotional. You’re allowed to grieve the passing of a chapter while celebrating their new beginnings.

Keepsakes That Let You Hold On—Even as They Grow

This is where keepsakes become something more than “just jewelry.” They become an anchor to the moments that built you as a mother.

Breastmilk jewelry isn’t about holding onto the past in a sad way—it’s about carrying a physical reminder of the love, sacrifice, and connection that motherhood has given you.

Even as they outgrow diapers, baby books, and first-day signs, you can still hold onto a piece of the journey that made you who you are.

Because while we let go of their hands, we never let go of their place in our hearts.

Why You Deserve to Celebrate This Moment, Too

Back-to-school is a celebration of their growth, but it’s also a reflection of your hard work. You’ve poured yourself into these early years. Every storytime, every hug, every sleepless night has shaped the little human who now bravely walks into their classroom.

You deserve to honor that journey, Mama. You deserve a moment to pause and say, “I did that.”

And what better way to carry that story with you than through a keepsake made from the very milk that nourished them in their earliest days?

Let’s Create Something Beautiful Together

This back-to-school season, while you’re celebrating your child’s new adventures, take a moment to honor yourself, too.

Let’s create a keepsake that holds your story. A tangible reminder that while the years fly by, some memories deserve to stay close to your heart forever.
